by Dub Caravan, Mohamad Fityan

/

about

Dub Caravan creates an Arabic reggae instrumental called “Reggae Sharqi” fusing the rhythms and feeling of classic Jamaican reggae with classical Arabic instruments and scales.

Along for the journey is Syrian master musician Mohamad Fityan who plays the Kawala.

The Kawala is an Arabic flute usually found in Egyptian folk music but not limited to only Egyptian music. The word Sharqi in Arabic means “Eastern” or “Oriental”.
